One Christmas present down… Alot more still to go!

Cushion front

Cushion back

I finished it!  I’m still tossing ideas around for the other cover.  It’s going to have a butterfly theme and I have some lovely butterfly fabric for the back and some lilac fabric for the background of the front.  However I’m torn between having one huge butterfly or a few smaller butterflies on top of the lilac…  I’m also torn between simple silhouettes or more decorated butterflies!  Thoughts would be greatly received!

In the meantime, enjoy a couple of flowers from our yard!

The second is actually a weed, but as it’s quite pretty we’re letting it stay for a little longer.

Hi, Your tractor cushion turned out great! I’ve just had a look back at your post with the butterfly fabric to remind myself. I think fewer smaller butterflies would be nice and I don’t think silhouettes will match it very well. But that’s just my opinion and I’m sure if you did the complete opposite it would still look lovely.

I was concerned about silhouettes with the backing fabric, but I’m also concerned about making it look to fussy and ending up rubbish. It’s a dilemma! Ideally I would use some of the butterflies from the back to decorate the front but I don’t have enough fabric…

Or I could use the lilac as backing and just have a panel of the butterflies for the front and pick out some details with embroidery thread…

Just popped back to thank you for your comment about my 100th post. I say “Go for it” and enter the Race for Life next year. There’s always such a lovely atmosphere and you’ll feel a great sense of achievement, not just for physically doing it but for contributing to such a worthy cause.

Reading your comments above I don’t think I quite understood what you meant in the post. Using the butterfly fabric as the front and the lilac for one large, or a few smaller, silhouette butterflies would look nice! If you have enough lilac fabric you could cut them out and play around before sewing, to find the best arrangement.

I hope I haven’t confused you now! Don’t listen to me, ‘I know nothing’!!

You made a very pretty “tractor” cushion!
You just reminded me that I must start making my CHRISTMAS gifts!
