Current food themes and craft projects

So… It’s my first post and the pressure is on!

I’m currently going through a Japanese food phase which has included a wonderful trip to Yo Sushi! with my partner as well as a few home cooked meals.  Yo Sushi! was a fantastic place to eat – the staff were really helpful, which was good as we were a little overwhelmed!  Between us we had Vegetable Firecracker Rice, Prawn Katsu, Salmon, Tuna and Prawn and Chive Maki and Crayfish Salad.  We both came away raving about the whole experience but particularly the Crayfish Salad!  There were also some fantastic looking tofu dishes and most of the menu was dairy free so it caters well for a wide range of eating habits.  In fact we found it so brilliant that we’ve convinced my partners parents to take us this weekend!  This time I’m hoping to try some of the tempura dishes and will definitely be ordering more of the crayfish salad.

So that was a quick summery of where things are with food at the moment.  Now for crafts…

I’ve recently revitalised a love of all things felt.  The main result of this is that our house is covered in  gorgeous little roses made from this pattern from Purl Bee.  Photos to follow!  I’ve made a few of them into keyrings using a small rectangle of green felt but am not quite sure what to do with the remaining ones!  I have also been given a sewing machine and have just started a simple quilting project using a Friendship Star pattern.  So far so good, I just need to get some wadding and we’re almost there!

I’m always on the look out for new crafty ideas and I’ve just found this tutorial for a lace bracelet which looks so easy and as I have some gorgeous black lace and a friend who would love a lace bracelet I shall probably have a go in the next couple of days!
